NRO Overview Presentation by Byron Knight, Chief Scientist, National Reconnaissance Office (NRO)

The Office of the Executive Vice President for Research (EVPRP) is hosting Dr. Byron Knight, Chief Scientist, National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), on campus next Wednesday, November 6, 2019. Dr. Knight will present a general overview of the NRO from 10:15-11:15am in the Wilmeth Active Learning Center (WALC), Room 3090. All faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students are invited to attend. Topics include the history and role of the NRO, its mission, and employment and research opportunities within their organization.

Dr. Knight is a US Department of Defense Intelligence Senior Leader, currently serving as the Chief Scientist in the Advanced Systems and Technology (AS&T) Directorate at the NRO in Chantilly, Virginia. He is the principal advisor to the Director for emerging science, technology, engineering and mathematics capabilities related to space reconnaissance. Previously to joining AS&T, Byron held numerous positions in the NRO Systems Engineering Directorate (SED). As the Deputy Director for Future Conflict Capabilities he was the principle technical advisor to the Director of Systems Engineering focused on improved reconnaissance systems and operations to address emerging tactical and operational military and intelligence needs.
