Pharmacy for Non-Pharmacists

This course will be offered for the first time in the Spring 2020 semester. It is designed for students pursing a degree in a healthcare related field other than pharmacy. It is intended to provide an introduction to pharmacy law, prescription abbreviations, and commonly prescribed medications. The majority of the course will be devoted to introducing approximately 100 commonly used medications, both prescription and over-the-counter. Emphasis will be placed on uses, dosing, side effects, and patient information. General knowledge of common medical conditions is helpful. Previous coursework in Anatomy & Physiology or similar is STRONGLY recommended. Class size is limited and will be taught in a small group format to help individuals with varying backgrounds.
