Summer Scholarship Opportunities and Programs

Continuing Students

Summer Stay – Students can earn up to $2,500 in exchange for completing a 140-hour on-campus research or internship experience alongside 9+ credit hours. Research and internship credits count. This opportunity is very competitive.

Summer Internship Plus – Selected students earn up to $1,000 for completing an off-campus internship alongside 6+ credit hours of online or on-campus coursework. Internship credits count.

Summer Finish Scholarship – Selected students earn up to $1,000 for graduating during August rather than waiting until December.

Advisor-Initiated Scholarship – Advisors nominate three students who would benefit from online or on-campus summer courses for a $500 scholarship.  Preference is given to first-year and second-year students needing to catch up on degree requirements.  Please submit all three students at once via this link.

Pre-College and New Beginner Students

Summer Start – Five-week, direct-admission residential program. Students complete 7 credit hours during summer, receive a coach, and live on campus throughout the year.

Early Start – Incoming fall admits who switch to summer. Students may complete up to 9 credit hours fully online or on campus.

Summer College for High School Students – Opportunity for students who are at least 16 years old and have a 3.30 or higher GPA to earn credit at Purdue over the summer.

Summer Housing Scholarship – Students experiencing homelessness and students who have spent time in foster care may apply for a summer housing scholarship. This award will be applied to room and board in University Residences for Summer 2020. Please refer students who would benefit from this scholarship to John Gipson at gipsonj@purdue.edu.

Financial Aid – Summer is a header at Purdue so students have easier access to need-based institutional and federal aid.  Federal and institutional aid is only available to degree-seeking students. Please encourage your students to apply for summer aid in their myPurdue portal.

Registration – The Summer 2020 schedule of classes was released on December 9, 2019.  Registration for priority groups will begin on January 27, 2020. Don’t forget!  First-Year students will be registering for summer instead of completing a course request form (CRF).  Here is a step-by-step video from the Office of the Registrar you can share with students who experience difficulty.
