
As the summer and warmer weather quickly approach, Orientation Programs is beginning the search for both our Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) Team Leaders and our STAR Ambassadors. We are seeking well-informed and resourceful undergraduate students who are reliable, proactive and have a proven willingness to help new students and families.
The Team Leader position is an entry-level, volunteer leadership role that supports the mission and vision of Boiler Gold Rush (BGR), Orientation Programs, the Student Success Programs department, and Purdue University. Team Leaders work to create an inclusive environment that enhances the growth and development of new students. All Team Leaders are responsible for actively participating in Team Leader trainings, events, and programs throughout the academic year as well as providing support to new students during the week of Boiler Gold Rush and Boiler Gold Rush International.
The STAR Ambassador position is a paid leadership role that offers both full- and part-time work experience in support of Orientation Programs, the Student Success Programs department, and Purdue University. STAR Ambassadors welcome new students and their families to campus and connect them with resources that will support their success. All STAR Ambassadors are responsible for actively participating in STAR Ambassador trainings, assigned STAR sessions, and other events as needed. Ambassadors will be compensated $9 per hour. Full-time STAR Ambassadors must work 40 hours per week and may not be enrolled in summer classes. Part-time STAR Ambassadors must work a minimum of 20 hours per week and may take either morning or afternoon summer classes, but not both.

The application for both positions will open on Thursday, January 23rd at 10pm. Both theTeam Leader and STAR Ambassador applications will close on Sunday, February 2nd at 11:59 p.m. All undergraduate student with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA are eligible to apply. Transfer students and other first-semester students at Purdue without a GPA may still apply.
