MIT’s Futures in Mechanical Engineering Workshop
My name is Evelyn Wang and I’m the Department Head for MIT’s Department of Mechanical Engineering. I’m writing to ask for your help as we launch a new program to encourage and support womxn interested in pursuing a graduate degree in mechanical engineering. The upcoming “Futures in Mechanical Engineering” will be a workshop held over the course of two days in November for junior and senior undergraduate students who identify as womxn.
You can help MIT launch Futures in Mechanical Engineering by forwarding this email to outstanding womxn juniors and seniors in your school’s program who you believe would excel in graduate studies. Please encourage those students to submit an application by Friday October 23 at the following link:
MIT Futures in Mechanical Engineering Application
Thursday November 12, 2:00pm-6:00pm EST
Friday November 13, 2:00pm-6:00pm EST
While some aspects of the workshop will focus on MIT’s mechanical engineering graduate program in particular, our goal is to encourage more undergraduate womxn to pursue advanced degrees in mechanical engineering across the board. Topics at the workshop will include:
- Preparing an application that stands out
- Workshop to prepare and enhance personal statements
- Faculty panel on MIT’s mechanical engineering graduate program
- Student life at MIT hosted by Mechanical Engineering Graduate Association of Women
- Get to know our faculty and research – small group breakout sessions
- Careers after graduate school alumni panel
You can learn more about our program at our website. If you or your students have any questions about the workshop, please email us at futureme@mit.edu. Thank you in advance for helping us support the next generation of womxn in mechanical engineering.
