Apply to the LA Sanitation Program!

LA Sanitation (LASAN) is looking for 20 Student Engineers to join us part-time, year-round. We don’t just offer a paycheck; we offer a pathway to a full-time engineering career with the City of Los Angeles upon graduation.

Why LASAN?

  • Highly Competitive Pay: Earn between $23.02 and $42.85 per hour, depending on your school year.
  • Longevity: This isn’t a temporary gig; you can work with us until you graduate.
  • True Flexibility: We offer flexible schedules to work around your classes, with many tasks performed remotely (though you’ll get your boots on the ground for field work, too).
  • Mission-Driven Work: Join our “Zero Waste, Zero Wasted Water” movement to help make Los Angeles the most sustainable city in the world.

The Work You’ll Actually Do

Forget coffee runs. You will be performing entry-level engineering assignments that actually move the needle:

  • Hydraulic Modeling & Pollutant Loading: Help us manage how water moves and stays clean across the City.
  • Data Science: Collect, organize, and analyze data to solve complex urban challenges.
  • Project Coordination: Liaise between City, State, and local agencies to deliver critical programs.
  • Sustainability & Justice: Provide staff support for environmental justice and special green infrastructure projects.
